How to measure for a custom booth
A useful first sketch does not need to be polished. It needs to show the room clearly.
Start with the room
Draw the area from above and label each wall. Record the available length for a straight booth, both runs for a corner, or the outside width and depth for a U-shaped layout. Include units on every measurement.
Mark what cannot move
Add doors and their swing direction, windows and sill heights, columns, outlets and any changes in the wall. Take a wide photo of the area and closer photos of obstructions.
Include tables and circulation
Show existing or proposed tables and how guests and staff will move around them. Furniture dimensions alone do not establish a workable dining layout. Have your project team check applicable accessibility and clearance requirements.
Keep a clear starting point
Keep your sketch and any available floor plan together with the seating specification. Label approximate dimensions clearly. Final dimensions and site conditions should be confirmed before fabrication.
